A lottery winner from Canada had a laidback reaction after realising he won almost £60,000. Stan Ismond from Abernethy, Saskatchewan, didn’t want to wake his wife with his wild celebrations, so he finished a couple of chores before going back to bed. He won CAD 100,000 (£58,742) in the Western Canada Lottery Corporation draw by adding an Extra to his Lotto Max ticket and matching the last six digits for the draw. The following morning, he checked his numbers on the Lotto Spot app while his wife stayed in bed. After learning of his big win, he quietly carried on with his daily routine and then went back to bed for a bit. Stan plans to invest his cash prize.
Stan bought his winning ticket on the day of the draw at the Balcarres Liquor Store in Balcarres. In a similar story from last year, Antoine Beaini, 68, from the town of Milton, Ontario, won a CAD 1 million (£587,320) lottery prize for the second time in just over 12 months. Antoine said he continued to play Lotto Max despite winning CAD 1 million in summer 2021. His love for the game paid off again, and he scooped another Maxmillions payout of CAD 1 million on 23 September last year. After beating the odds by winning twice, Antoine said: “I couldn’t believe it. I thought ‘again?’ It was more shocking than the first win.”
