She spends just £40 a week on groceries, which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, and snacks for two people, treats for her husky, and nice lunches for the weekend. Lauren shares her tips and tricks on social media and has revealed her top five tips for cutting back on food costs.
The first tip is to set a budget and try to spend less each time. Lauren sets herself challenges, such as only spending £30 on food shopping. Her second tip is to look out for yellow reduced stickers, which indicate that the food is near its sell-by date. The majority of Lauren’s dinners and midweek lunches are reduced price on the food shop.
Lauren also recommends shopping at her favourite supermarkets, which are Marks and Spencer’s and Morrisons, for buying reduced items or products on offer. The best deals are usually one to two hours prior to closing, and quieter stores usually have better deals. Aldi reduces food items down by 30% halfway through the day, and later, before closing, they reduce items by 75%.
The fourth tip is to always take a shopping list, and the final tip is to make meals out of leftovers to promote no food waste. Lauren suggests trying out the free magazines in supermarkets for recipe ideas and revealed any offers that were available.
